Paysafe Unveils Enhanced Skrill Digital Wallet for Ontario iGaming

Payments platform Paysafe has unveiled an upgraded Skrill digital wallet specifically tailored for iGaming in the Canadian province of Ontario.

The revamped wallet aims to meet the payment preferences of iGaming players by offering instant payments and an enhanced user experience (UX). Ontario, with its sizable population of 14.6 million residents and expanded market for private operators, provides an ideal environment for the launch.

According to Paysafe’s research, which explores the payment habits of players, 73 per cent of Ontarian online sports bettors have used a digital wallet to deposit funds at sportsbooks. The new Skrill wallet seeks to cater to these customers by prioritising transactional security and speed.

Skrill has streamlined the registration process, allowing Ontarians to link their bank accounts to the wallet in seconds. Users can also make instant and secure deposits through online bank transfers or by loading funds to the Skrill wallet balance using the Paysafecash eCash solution.

Tailored wallet

Skrill’s UX is available across desktop and mobile platforms, providing a simple interface for casual players as well as high-stakes VIP sports bettors. The wallet’s ’tiled’ display centralises all the necessary information, facilitating a smooth depositing process.

Cashing-out is straightforward, with real-time accessibility to funds in players’ Skrill accounts. Users have the option to spend winnings at supporting online merchants or transfer them directly to linked bank accounts.

Zak Cutler, president of global gaming at Paysafe, expressed confidence in the Skrill wallet’s appeal to players worldwide. “Our research revealed that whether players are in the US, Canada’s Ontario or the UK, there’s strong interest in a digital wallet like the new Skrill that can support instant deposits and provide robust financial security.

“Against this backdrop, we’ve already seen significant adoption of the revamped Skrill wallet by US players since we launched the solution there in 2021, and we expect similar uptake in Ontario, as we roll-out the solution in Europe and other global iGaming markets.”
