Coinbase Launches Ambassadors Pilot Programme in Italy; as it Continues European Expansion

Crypto exchange platform, Coinbase, has launched its ‘Coinbase Ambassadors’ pilot programme in Italy, to provide selected ambassadors with the chance to represent Coinbase at local crypto events across the country, in addition to building and managing online communities for Coinbase.

The candidates chosen by Coinbase from across Italy will create a team consisting of six members – one part-time community manager, and five ambassadors.

The responsibilities of these roles include participating in other community forums and crypto communities/groups; creating and curating content for these communities; engaging with local crypto-related events as representatives of Coinbase; sharing news and product announcements about Coinbase; and playing a crucial role in product testing and feedback processes.

Daniel Seifert, vice president and regional managing director for EMEA at Coinbase, explained:  “We are thrilled to launch the pilot programme of our ‘Coinbase Ambassadors’ in Italy; this initiative marks a significant step in strengthening our foothold within the region, enabling us to delve deeper into the intricacies of Italy’s thriving crypto landscape.

“By enlisting the support of our ambassadors, we aim to gain invaluable first-hand insights and feedback, while empowering crypto-enthusiasts. It is a unique opportunity, and one we are excited to give to the successful candidates.”

Internation expansion efforts for Coinbase

Coinbase explained that Italy currently represents an attractive market – thanks to a burgeoning tech ecosystem, with growing interest in cryptocurrencies. As a result, Coinbase plans to continue it focus on the region throughout the second phase of its international expansion strategy.

In recent weeks Coinbase has revealed a series of developments across Europe, further implementing its ‘Go Deep, Go Broad’ strategy.

In September, Coinbase registered as a cryptocurrency exchange and custodian wallet provider with the Bank of Spain and obtained the necessary licenses.

Then, in October, Coinbase announced Ireland as its MiCA entity location, as well as changes in leadership as Elke Karskens took the role of country director for Benelux and the Nordics.

The diverse regional perspectives, and collective efforts of the Ambassadors hope to play a pivotal role in shaping Coinbase’s footprint in the Italian market, fostering a strong and vibrant community of cryptocurrency enthusiasts and users.
