European Challenger Bank bunq Promises to Plant Trees Whenever You Spend

bunq enables people to live a green lifestyle and introduces bunq Green Card: a metal card tailored to those who want to make the world a greener place.

Research has shown that 88% of consumers want brands to help them make a difference in their daily life. bunq meets this demand by introducing bunq Green Card, enabling these consumers to build a greener world without any effort. Today the European challenger bank, known for its strong community, releases a limited edition of Founders Cards.

“We’re super excited to introduce bunq Green Card. Thanks to bunq Green Card you can build a greener world, without any effort. All users joining the Green Card community on Green Thursday will become a Green Card Founder and receive a special, limited edition Green Card”, says founder and CEO Ali Niknam.

Planting trees is one of the easiest ways to positively affect the environment. A tree produces clean air, reduces carbon, and provides shelter to wildlife. bunq, through a partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects, builds a greener planet by planting a tree for every €100 spent with the bunq Green Card. Trees planted through Eden Reforestation Projects capture 308kg CO2 over their 25 year average life span. The green impact of a user who spends €1,000 a month with his bunq Green Card is such that it takes just 5 years to start offsetting his yearly carbon footprint and be fully carbon neutral.

bunq Green Card enables users to live a green lifestyle in day-to-day spending. Naturally, the actual card also embraces sustainability: with an expiry date of 6 years, the card lasts 50% longer than a plastic card and its carrier is made of recyclable material and paint. To stay in-the-know about their green impact, bunq Green Card users receive monthly updates on how their lives contribute to a greener future.

Starting today, 1,000 customers at any European bank can order the Mastercard credit card Founders Edition. After depositing funds, the metal card can be used for online as well as offline payments. Users can enjoy the benefits of a credit card, such as global acceptance, without the burden of debt. At the same time they enjoy the real exchange rate and free global ATM withdrawals. Once all Founders Cards have been claimed, bunq will officially release bunq Green Card to the market.
