Hong Kong Monetary Authority Introduces “Fintech 2025” Strategy To Boost Fintech Growth

The current fintech growth seen to date is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of its potential, as more central banks are recognising ways of developing it. Helping fintechs in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and ASEAN markets,  Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the city’s de facto central bank, has introduced the strategy of “Fintech 2025” to facilitate growth as well as enhance the digital transformation of the financial industry. The strategy also encourages co-creation in the fintech ecosystem and further expands the fintech workforce in Hong Kong.

As an annual signature event held in Hong Kong every January to promote collaboration in the Asia’s financial industry, the Asian Financial Forum (AFF), returns on 10-11 Jan 2022. Marking its 15th edition, this year’s Asian Financial Forum will provide the participants with a dual in-person and virtual experience. Selected sessions and exhibitions will be held physically at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 10 Jan 2022, while all sessions and exhibitions will be available on the AFFs virtual platform over the course of the two-day event.

At the AFF’s exhibitions, namely the Fintech Showcase and the FintechHK Startup Salon, a plethora of fintech and tech related ideas will be showcased. Around 100 innovators and startups from around the world, including PwC, Standard Chartered Bank, Bank of China, HSBC, China International Capital Corporation and the Hong Kong Cyberport, will present an array of advanced technologies. New-gen technopreneurs and startups, including Choco Up, Paygilant Ltd, SmartWage, Spark Systems, AQUMON, Fano Labs, will demonstrate solutions and business ideas on blockchain, wealthtech, regtech, AI, robots, etc to address business pain points and to help corporates with their digital transformation.

Under the theme of “Navigating the Next Normal towards a Sustainable Future”, AFF will discuss key issues shaping a sustainable and resilient future against the backdrop of a gradual global economic recovery. Keynote speakers, Mark Carney, UN Special Envoy on Climate Action and Finance, and Brett King, Bestselling Author and Founder of the fintech firm Moven will shed light on sustainability and innovation, providing the AFF participants with firsthand market intelligence to stay resilient in the post-pandemic era.
