GitLab Inc, a development, security, and operations (DevSecOps) platform, has launched ‘GitLab Dedicated’. The solution enables users to use the platform as a single-tenant software as a service (SaaS) solution.
GitLab Dedicated, an enterprise DevSecOps platform, offers a focus on data residency, isolation, and private networking to meet complex compliance needs. Users can use the cloud while working in an isolated instance; removing platform and infrastructure management overheads.
According to the ‘GitLab 2022 Global DevSecOps Survey‘, security and compliance is the highest-ranking investment area for development, operations and security leaders. The area is also a priority for large enterprises and regulated industries. This is due to an increase in global internet policy fragmentation and expanding complexity of data governance.
Cybersecurity continues to take priority, causing companies a need to change their strategy and adopt newer technology. GitLab explained that the new offering helps organisations to meet complex compliance requirements. GitLab Dedicated offers a private connection between a customer network and GitLab’s platform.
The platform says that the product is ideal for highly regulated industries including financial institutions. Its single-tenant SaaS offering is region-based and privately connected. It is also deployed in the customer’s Amazon Web Services (AWS) region of choice.
Meeting security and compliance needs

David DeSanto, vice president of product at GitLab, commented on the launch. He said: “Our goal is to meet customers where they are, and we know that no single deployment model will serve the needs of all of our customers.”
“Our customers vary from small startups to large enterprises and universities, to government agencies. GitLab Dedicated provides additional deployment control, data residency and isolation, and private networking to meet their complex compliance and regulatory needs.”
The service provided means that organisations can implement the platform with require teams to build and manage infrastructure. The setup ensures that companies can reduce costs while receiving security and ensuring compliance.

Katie Norton, senior research analyst for DevOps and DevSecOps at market intelligence provider IDC, explained what the platform can offer.
Norton said: “As global internet and data protection policies evolve over time, it has become increasingly imperative for organisations to ensure they meet new and existing compliance requirements.
“GitLab Dedicated offers a single tenant SaaS platform to help organisations meet their security and compliance needs so that they can focus on business-critical efforts such as innovative software development.”
