Crunch Partners with Sage to Expand into Small Business Market

Crunch has announced a new Premium service for small businesses through a partnership with Sage Business Cloud software.

Already trusted by 10,500 UK freelancers, micro businesses and sole traders, Crunch’s new package will allow the UK’s first online accountancy service to open its doors to even more small businesses.

Designed for all types of growing small business from construction to creatives, Crunch’s Premium service includes intuitive online tools plus regular video calls and unlimited telephone support from a dedicated accountant.

Crunch software has been integrated with Sage’s detailed performance insight reporting to give customers real time information, while a chartered accountant will provide practical business insight and recommendations. The service also includes an Accountancy Relationship Manager to take care of business bookkeeping. Packages can be tailored to those with complex accounting needs, larger payrolls, or such as those with multiple share classes and foreign currency transactions.

After a free consultation, the on-boarding process includes initial calls to understand clients’ financial position and ensure they get the most out of the service. This is followed by Accountancy Healthchecks at key points in the year to problem-solve financial management issues, using recent business performance to identify efficiencies and finance growth plans.

Crunch has grown by an annual average of 30% since starting out in 2009 and now has a turnover of more than £9 million. This move into a new market is intended to fuel the next stage of the company’s growth plans.

Darren Fell, Founder and CEO at Crunch, comments: “We chose to partner with Sage after looking at all the online accounting software at the top of the market. Sage is investing heavily in its new offering and we have a chance to influence its future roadmap, including its integration with Salesforce. We believe the combination of Sage for larger clients with more complex needs, and our own in-house Crunch software that works so beautifully for our existing contractor and freelancer clients, gives us the perfect combination for future growth.

“If the new service grows as we anticipate, we will have a more diverse pool of clients for our teams to work on and the business will keep expanding. Crunch has never stood still and if we’re going to remain a leader in our field, innovation and customer service must be our top priorities.”

Raj Harash, Senior Manager for Key Accounts at Sage, comments: “Sage is delighted to partner with Crunch to meet their growing needs. Crunch’s unique internal architecture means they can provide on-demand advice to their clients and foresee business challenges prior to the event happening. Now Crunch enters into another exciting phase of its growth, by using the same operating model to target the SMB and mid-market companies.

“One of the biggest factors of Crunch partnering with Sage was to ensure that as their clients grow their software grows with them. Sage has a variety of cloud solutions that allow businesses of any size to fulfil their objectives regardless of location or complexity. This is also aligned with Sage Business Cloud which helps businesses from start-up to scale-up. Sage is very much looking forward in working with the team at Crunch!”
