Global FTSE 250 News: CMC Markets Hires NED & Chairman Trevor Matthews

Trevor Matthews has joined FTSE 250 Financial Services firm CMC Markets as NED of its APAC business.

A high-profile international CEO with over forty years of experience in Financial Services, Trevor’s former roles include Managing Director Australia of Legal & General, CEO UK of Standard Life, Group CEO of Friends Life and CEO, subsequently Chairman, of Aviva UK. His Non-Executive appointments include AMP Limited, Bupa Australia NZ, FNZ Asia Pacific and he is currently Chairman of the State Insurance Regulatory Authority of NSW as well as the healthcare online appointment booking site 1st Group.

London-based firm La Fosse Associates completed the search, led by Jack Denison, Head of La Fosse’s Interim and Non-Executive Practices, and Louis Rado. Louis is a Non-Executive and Chair Specialist, and is the organiser of the La Fosse NED Network, an exclusive community of Non-Executive Directors and founders from high-growth businesses.

‘I was impressed by the way La Fosse not only identified my skills and background as a perfect match for the requirements of the business, but also went to great lengths to check that taking on the role was the right move for me,’ commented Trevor. ‘ Throughout, Jack and Louis were attentive, informative and on the ball, keeping me constantly updated with my progress. They ensured that everything was concluded smoothly and efficiently – a difficult task with placements of this seniority. I am extremely happy in my new position and would recommend La Fosse to clients and candidates alike.’

‘Having worked with La Fosse for some time as both a client and candidate, I am still impressed by their values-led approach, and the passion and dedication of their consultants,’ said Simon Waugh, Group CMC Chairman, who instructed the search. ‘The process was extremely professional, efficient and demonstrated a remarkable depth of knowledge of the market with an insight into the global landscape. Consequently, the shortlist was extremely high calibre, to such an extent that all candidates presented would have been a good fit for the role.’

With a successful track record of similar senior appointments, La Fosse formally announced the opening of their Non-Executive Division earlier this year. The team are currently engaged on a number of assignments across various sectors.

This builds on two exciting developments for the business, alongside the opening of La Fosse New York, which will initially focus on senior appointments in the US, and the LFA Interim Practice ranking as a ‘Gold Service Provider’ in the independent IIM 2018 survey, underscoring the quality of service across the board.
