LMAX Exchange Appoints Industry Veteran Himanshu Kher as Group Treasurer

LMAX Exchange Group, a leading player in global capital markets that operates multiple institutional exchanges for electronic trading of FX and cryptocurrencies, has appointed Himanshu Kher as Group Treasurer. Himanshu began in this newly created role with LMAX Exchange at the start of 2019, having joined the firm from FTSE 250-listed IG Group plc, for whom he was also Group Treasurer.

Himanshu, who reports to Grant Pomeroy, Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO), brings 18 years of treasury, corporate finance, risk management and stakeholder management experience from a career spent with respected global brokerages, banks and consulting organisations.  Prior to joining IG Group, Himanshu was a Director within Group Treasury at Barclays. Himanshu’s other roles included senior risk-management consulting roles at Boston Consulting Group and PwC LLP. He started his career as an M&A banker with Nomura Securities in Hong Kong.

At LMAX Exchange Himanshu is responsible for providing leadership and management of the Group’s Treasury activities and advising senior management on risk management strategies for foreign exchange. Other responsibilities include overseeing bank relationships as well as optimising cash and working capital management processes. He will also identify and implement opportunities to enhance the Treasury department’s contribution to company revenue generation.

Commenting on the appointment, LMAX Exchange CEO, David Mercer said: “We are delighted to welcome Himanshu to LMAX Exchange. He has deep industry experience in treasury and risk management within capital markets at a variety of large public companies.

His expertise will be a significant asset to us as we continue our global growth trajectory, which has been driven by ever-increasing client demand for order-driven firm liquidity and transparent, precise and consistent execution, in addition to our status as the only independent global player for institutional currency trading”.

Group CFO, Grant Pomeroy said: “The establishment of this new position within the Group’s Treasury function is a clear demonstration of how quickly LMAX Exchange has grown in recent years. Efficient management of our growing cash resources is vital to cementing our position as a profitable, high-growth player in global capital markets.

The maturity of the business and the outlook for continued growth across our exchanges has led us to place an enhanced focus on optimising returns from surplus funds. Himanshu’s track record demonstrates that he is highly skilled at this as well as in the important area of developing credit relationships with local banks”.

Himanshu Kher commented: “LMAX Exchange is a recognised leader in institutional FX trading and crypto markets, and I am excited to have joined the firm at such a progressive time in its history. I look forward to bringing my experience to bear in contributing to its future success”.
