It’s all about ‘encouraging and incentivising businesses who are either in Wales or who are set up in Wales to continue to innovate and disrupt in the fintech space’, says the Welsh government as it helps businesses to scale in the UK and internationally.
Lynsey Thompson is the international business development manager of TECH, Office of the First Minister and Cabinet Office – Wales. She recently chatted to Matt Hyde, managing director of Fintech Awards London as well as a director of fintech recruitment provider Recruit 121.
Together they discuss a collaborative approach for Welsh and London fintechs to work together to grow the fintech ecosystem as a whole. They also touch on how fintech has evolved post-pandemic and the challenges of remote working.
Thompson also explains why the Welsh government chose to sponsor the ‘Fintech Scale-up of the Year Award’ in the Fintech Awards London 2022.
“We sponsored the Scale-up Award because we want to show that we’re we’re present in London and we’re excited by what’s happening in London but we want to make sure that we collaborate, we partner and support those businesses as they grow,” said Thompson.
