TFT Webinar – Has the Faster Payments ‘New Access Model’ been a success?

Accenture produced a report back in June 2019 summarising the aims of the “New Access Model” to boost speed, competition and innovation in UK payments our panel of experts will discuss if this new access model is having the desired effect.

We will cover volumes of Faster Payments versus traditional Bacs credit, the effect of open banking, are there enough participants in the service and what does the future hold for the Faster Payments Service.

Myles Stephenson, Chief Executive, Modulr. The payments as a service API platform for businesses that need a faster, easier and more reliable way to move money. Myles has raised £25m in investment as well as most recently placing a successful bid for a £10m grant from the RBS Alternative Remedies Package. Prior to Modulr, Myles founded CorporatePay in 2008 and it grew rapidly to be a leading provider of commercial prepaid solutions. In May 2012 it was acquired by WEX Inc., where Myles became Managing Director of WEX Europe. Myles received an MA in Biochemistry from Christ Church, University of Oxford.

Ryan Jackson, Head of UK High Growth, Form3. Ryan has nearly 30 years of experience in the payments industry including Bottomline Technologies, Vocalink, and FIS. Ryan wants to live in a world where payments are faster, easier, more accessible and more cost effective. At Form3, Ryan heads-up the UK High Growth division, helping all types of regulated entities to move money to support their community of clients in the best way possible.

Bob Lyddon (Chair of the AUKPI) is an experienced management consultant both privately and with PwC. He was elected chair of the Association of UK Payment Institutions to resolve the issue of access to bank accounts in the UK, both for operational purposes and for safeguarding.
Bob has acted as advisor to various payment industry actors on UK and international policy and regulation, and been retained as an expert witness. Bob ran the IBOS banking alliance for 13 years, established the “Connector” banking network while with BankBoston and, with PwC, managed several Euro implementation programmes.

Jenni Himberg-Wild, Head of Team – Fintech and PSPs, Barclays. Jenni is the Head of FinTech and Non-Bank Payment Service Providers at Barclays Corporate and sits on the Barclays Financial Institutions Group UK and Global leadership teams. She leads a team of dedicated FinTech coverage bankers who provide cash management, FX risk management, debt and partnership opportunities to a wide range of established and fast growth clients. Core to her mission is ensuring that FinTech clients have access to best of Barclays across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia with focus on scale enabling solutions to meet their future growth ambitions.

Jenni joined Barclays in 2006 and prior to her current role worked in various client coverage positions within Barclays Corporate UK hospitality & leisure industry where she looked after key clients as well as lead the delivery of strategy and governance processes associated with related high risk sectors.

A keen advocate of diversity in banking and finance, Jenni has been a prominent force of more gender balance in the sector, leading diversity initiatives within Barclays and mentoring future leaders in and outside the organisation.
