First Digital Currency Announced as Official Sponsor to Sky Sports British Masters

Blockchain technology company LIFElabs.io has been announced as an Official Sponsor for renowned golfing tournament, the Sky Sports British Masters. LIFElabs, a UK-based business, is the first digital currency to sponsor the British Masters in their long tradition of partnering with select brands.

The historic event will take place at Walton Heath Golf Club from October 11-14, with the 2013 U.S. Open Champion Justin Rose playing host at the Surrey venue. He will head up a strong field, which also includes the reigning Race to Dubai Champion Tommy Fleetwood.

LIFElabs dedicates one third of its currency (LIFEtokens) to global philanthropic causes. As part of their sponsorship of the event, the company will be running a hole-in-one competition on the par 3, 9th hole. The first player to hole an ace on the 222-yard hole will win a prize of £10k. This prize money will be equally matched with a donation from LIFElabs to both Cancer Research UK and The European Tour Foundation, whose charity pick for 2018 is The Woodlands Special Needs School.

Just as the European Tour has been a leader in the field of golf regarding innovation and experimentation over the past two years to make the sport more accessible, LIFElabs is aiming to break down the barriers of digital currency in its mission to give everyone the opportunity to be part of the cryptocurrency revolution. They offer easy access to their currency while giving people the chance to give a little back to good causes around the world, simply through the way in which they choose to pay.

Max Hamilton, Head of Commercial Partnerships at the European Tour, said:

“This is an exciting time for the Sky Sports British Masters and we’re delighted to welcome LIFElabs as an Official Sponsor for the event.

“Following on so soon after The Ryder Cup, this year’s British Masters promises to be a fantastic occasion, with a popular and worthy host in Justin Rose. LIFElabs is a progressive business and a great fit for the Sky Sports British Masters.”

Luke Chittock, CEO of LIFElabs, commented:

“LIFElabs’ mission is to invest in the future of humanity and we know that sport brings people together in a completely unparalleled way.”

“We partnered with the European Tour because it is an innovative brand within the golfing world, with one eye firmly fixed on the future. As such, both LIFElabs and the British Masters are looking to make a real difference to people’s lives, both here in the UK and across the rest of the world.”
