Crypto Juggernaut, Bitcoin, Places 7th in Increased Crypto Searches Whilst Shiba Inu Takes Top Spot

The crypto hype train that began a few years ago continues to prove disbelievers wrong, as coins that have been around for years are now seeing huge increases in searches. Examining the search frequencies in over 170 countries using Google Trends, CasinoScores, the casino experts, has revealed which cryptos are the most up and coming across the globe.

Storming in first, appearing top of the ranking in 98 countries is Shiba Inu. Created as an experiment by anonymous ‘Ryoshi’ in 2020, the ‘meme coin’ is also known as the ‘Dogecoin killer’. Shiba Inu recorded the biggest increase in search frequency over the past 12 months in countries including the UK, Germany, Sweden and India.

Second is Saitama, which tops the list in 15 countries such as the United States, France and New Zealand. The Saitama token launched in May 2021 and now has approximately 360,000 holders.

Binance and bomb crypto take joint third, with a total of 14 countries showing high levels of interest in the currencies. Binance tops the list as most popular in countries such as Kosovo and Zambia, while Bomb is of particular interest in United Arab Emirates, Brazil and Japan.

Following its release in March 2021, Chia placed fifth in the ranking, with big increases in searches in seven countries including Austria, Chile, Romania and Slovenia.

The already well-established cryptocurrency, Ethereum takes sixth in the ranking and saw the biggest increase in search frequency in five countries, including Antigua and Barbuda, Curaçao and Libya.

The original cryptocurrency established in 2009, Bitcoin, places seventh. As the most searched cryptocurrency globally at 26.45 million searches, search levels for Bitcoin are already high in around the world, so it tops the list for largest increase in just four countries: Chad, Cape Verde, St. Lucia and St. Vincent & Grenadines.

Joint eighth is Bonfire, which attracted the biggest relative search increases in Norway, Ireland and Puerto Rico, along with Dogelon Mars generating interest in Italy, Slovakia and Vietnam. Polygon places tenth as the top search in Albania and Malaysia.

Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson from CasinoScores said: “It’s fascinating to see the evolving impact of cryptocurrencies as the market grows and gains more publicity. The data shows which currencies have seen the biggest increase interest around the world, and although Bitcoin is the most searched of all the digital currencies and still a go-to for many, it has plenty of competition around the world from newer coins like Shiba Inu, as well as more established competitors such as Ethereum.

“We’re also seeing that cryptocurrency has become more popular among gamblers, so it’s worth remembering that any return on investment in crypto is subject to tax in most countries, and to keep track of what needs to be reported based on where you pay tax.”
