“This announcement is a big step in an exciting new direction for the region’s entertainment ecosystem. Through our partnership with AD Gaming these events will lay solid foundations for the gaming and eSports community in Abu Dhabi, the UAE and wider region to flourish, testing and developing their skills against established eSports stars.”

Sultan Al Riyami, Head of Gaming Operations for AD Gaming, added: “Following the launch of AD Gaming, we are excited about the launch of the first DOTA2 tournament in Abu Dhabi. The upcoming tournaments are proof of Abu Dhabi’s capabilities to develop and bring world-class eSports entertainment to the UAE. This really is a game-changer for the industry. We look forward to hosting some epic battles between eSports rising talent.”

Alongside bragging rights and the cash prize fund, other incentives up for grabs include PS5s, FIFA Ultimate Team points, and flights to international destinations courtesy of Etihad Airways, the Official Airline Partner for the tournament series.

Amina Taher, Vice President Brand, Marketing and Sponsorships, Etihad Airways, said: “As the pandemic has taught us, technology and gaming are fast growing industries, and at Etihad we’re excited about being one of the first airlines to tap into this sphere. It provides us with a strong platform to engage the younger generations who are so passionate about gaming.
